American actor John La Briola studied theater at the University of Colorado where he majored in Creative Writing. For seven years he worked as a freelance journalist and regular contributor to Village Voice Media's national chain of alt-weeklies, most notably Denver-based Westword. After uprooting himself midlife to settle in Stockholm, Sweden, La Briola worked as an extra and voice artist, then broke into professional acting at age 51, playing Italian
